Artwork and Files

What artwork format do you accept?

Please supply your artwork as a transparent PNG at final print size. The file should not contain an unwanted white, black or coloured background.

View Artwork Guidelines

What resolution does my artwork need to be?

Artwork should be supplied at 300 DPI or higher at the final required print size. Increasing the DPI setting on a small or blurry image will not restore missing detail, so please start with the highest-quality original file available.

Should I mirror my artwork?

No. Do not mirror your artwork. Upload it in its normal orientation and we will mirror it during production.

Does my artwork need a transparent background?

Yes. Any background visible within the uploaded file may be printed. Please upload a transparent PNG unless the background is an intentional part of your design.

What is the minimum line and dot thickness?

No individual line or dot should be less than 1mm thick. This is the minimum recommended size for the white backing and printed detail to reproduce reliably.

Do you check my artwork before printing?

We check artwork for dimensions, resolution and obvious technical problems. Files are otherwise printed exactly as supplied and are not automatically proofread, rearranged, resized, background-removed or redesigned. If we notice something that requires confirmation, we will contact you before printing.

Will the printed colours exactly match my screen?

Screens display colour differently from printed ink, and results can also vary depending on the garment and pressing setup. We do not guarantee an exact screen-to-print colour match. If a particular colour is important, contact us to request our printed colour chart and matching digital reference.

How do I send files that are too large to upload?

Complete your order first, then email your artwork or a file-sharing download link to info@yourdtftransfers.co.uk. Quote your order number and clearly label each file with its required sheet length and quantity. Production and delivery estimates begin once all print-ready files have been received.

Pressing and Care

Which fabrics can DTF transfers be applied to?

DTF transfers are suitable for cotton, polyester, blends, denim, canvas and many other heat-tolerant fabrics. Coated, waterproof or heat-sensitive materials should be tested first because results can vary.

What are the pressing settings for cotton?

Set the heat press to 150°C and use high pressure. Cover the transfer with a Teflon or wax sheet and press for 10 seconds. Peel the film hot or cold, cover the design again and complete a second 10-second press.

What are the pressing settings for polyester?

Set the heat press between 120°C and 130°C and use medium pressure. Cover the transfer with a Teflon or wax sheet and press for 8 seconds. Peel the film hot or cold, cover the design again and complete a second 6-second press.

View Full Pressing Instructions

Is the film hot peel or cold peel?

Our film can be peeled hot or cold. Keep the garment flat while peeling and always complete the recommended covered second press.

Is a second press required?

Yes. After peeling the carrier film, cover the design with a Teflon or wax sheet and press it again. Use 10 seconds for cotton and 6 seconds for polyester. This helps improve the finished feel and durability.

Are the pressing instructions guaranteed for every heat press?

The instructions are a guide because heat presses can vary in actual temperature and pressure. We recommend testing unfamiliar garments or equipment before completing a full production run.

What should I do if the transfers have collected moisture?

During transport, transfer sheets can occasionally collect moisture. If you notice any moisture, place the transfer beneath the heat press and hover the heated top platen above it for approximately 60 seconds without making contact. Allow it to cool before pressing normally.

How should I wash a printed garment?

Turn the garment inside out and wash it at a maximum of 40°C using non-biological powder or liquid. Do not tumble dry.

How do I apply a transfer?

Position the transfer on the garment and follow the fabric-specific temperature, pressure and pressing time. Peel the carrier film hot or cold, cover the design and complete the recommended second press.
